How does the judging process work?

All stories are printed out with no identifying information to ensure truly blind reading among the first round readers.

The volunteer readers and the editor read through all the stories and separate ones they think are of supreme quality and deserving of the top prizes.

Then, these stories, usually numbering 15-20, are read by the editoragain, blind readingand he selects a top 7-10 to forward to the judge.

The judge is given manuscripts completely absent of author information.  S/he chooses the 1st, 2nd, 3rd place winners; then from the runner-ups, the editor chooses two for the Editor's Choice Awards.  All short-listed stories sent to the judge will be announced along with the winners on the website.

So how do I win?

Send us your best work.  While with regular submissions, the editor may work with the author to revise and improve the work, this luxury is not afforded in the contest.  Therefore, your work should be 100% free of grammatical, spelling, and typo errors.  Consider it as though you're sending the story to a publishing house for the final print!
