Carve is looking for artwork & photography to include as a cover and/or introduction to individual stories for our online issues.
If you have a photograph or work of art that you think would be a good fit for the magazine, use our upload form to send it our way. You must have exclusive rights to the artwork and agree to its publishing on our website in .jpg
or similar format AND on the cover our annual printed paperback
anthology.
Since the site design is reflective of our cover illustration/artwork, we are looking for images that fulfill the following guidelines:
Allows for a strong color scheme from which we can design the site.
Use
of a horizontal strip as the site banner.
Is roughly 1838 pixels wide and 2775 pixels tall, or a similar proportion, or able to crop to that size.
Can be made partially transparent to
make overlay text readable.
It is highly recommended you access the Archives and look at our 2007 covers and site designs to get an idea of how we USE the images.
However, do not feel as though your art/photograph must mimic the "theme" of each issue's season (spring, summer, etc), as our subsequent issues
do not feature a particular or seasonal theme.
All images are considered as a cover first, then considered for pairing with a particular story.
For your initial upload-submission, please send us a lower-resolution file that is no more than
3MB. If we desire to publish your photograph/artwork, we will request the full-sized, high-resolution copy at a later time.
You may only submit
one photograph/artwork per submission period. This is for two reasons: to save our site bandwidth, and to encourage you to send your BEST work.
Please enter the following information and then click "Continue."
You will upload your file on the next page. » We are only able to accept .jpg, .bmp, .tiff, .gif, .png, or .psd extensions.
All text fields are required.
SUBMISSION PERIODS
Unlike our story
submissions, we do not consider artwork year-round. We open
submissions for artwork for one month at a time throughout the year to
limit an influx of artwork submissions.
At this time, we
ARE accepting submissions for artwork/photography until June 1st 2008.
