Dedicated Carve Readers,
At last, a new issue is here.
I can't thank you enough for your extended patience in
waiting for the March issue. It's been well over four
months since the December issue premiered, but it's been a
busy and exciting time for the magazine.
In the past four months, I have
put together an anthology featuring every story from 2007,
re-introduced online submissions, redesigned the site
template to include an additional column that features links
and helpful information, and of course, I've read through story
after story looking for quality voices to represent today's
finest fiction. Each project alone was tasking and
time-consuming, but ultimately executed with you in
mind. I hope you enjoy the anthology, the convenience
of the new online submission form, the site renovation, and
above all, I sincerely hope you enjoy these latest stories
to join the ranks of Carve.
I am also pleased to announce that
in the very near future, we will be accepting
artwork/photography submissions for consideration as cover &
story art. More information will be posted on the main
page when finalized.
And lastly, though the December
issue featured the winning stories of the Raymond Carver
Short Story Contest, the 2008 contest is just around the
corner. The contest will open April 15 - May 31, and
the winning stories will be selected over the summer and
published in the Fall 2008 issue.
But in the meantime, read these
stories. They are each very different from each
other and from past stories we've published. They are
exciting and intriguing, both from a craft and a story
perspective. It's been four months since the last
issue—isn't it about time for some honest fiction?
