An update from the
editor...
If you've been to this
site the recently, you'll know that it hasn't been updated
in quite some time. We are currently taking a hiatus,
but we plan to return before the year's end, hopefully with
the 2010 Raymond Carver contest in full swing.
In the meantime, we've
had to make some tough choices about where our time and
energy can be spent. It's with regret that I inform
you there are no immediate plans to issue a yearly anthology
beyond the year 2007 one already published. In
addition, there are no plans to implement a "recovery" of
all the stories published prior to 2007. The amount of
time and labor required to complete these projects is far
too much for one person.
However, we ARE still
reading stories and accepting MAILED submissions. Our
response time is very long (some have been waiting well over
6 months), but we will continue to read stories. We
are also going to be making progress on the remaining
emailed submissions from 2009. (However, any submission
emailed directly to either the editor or submissions emails
have been and will continue to be deleted unread.)
I apologize for not
updating you, the dedicated reader, sooner. Any excuse
is still an excuse, so I will spare you, but know that CARVE
will be coming back this year—perhaps
in a different form or on a different publishing schedule,
but our goal will remain the same: publish quality short
fiction.
Thank you for your
understanding and patience,
Matthew L., Editor
