Dedicated Carve Readers,
Please forgive the extended wait
for this summer issue. I'm sure by now, with our
continual delayed issues, our reputation is beginning to
precede us. I hope you can find it in yourself to
forgive us. I wish I could devote more time to the
magazine; one day I will be able to do so.
This issue was delayed mainly due
to the contest, which was again, very successful. The
readings are on schedule and the announcements should be
made by August 15th as planned. Perhaps the fall issue
will premiere early to make up for this one...
But in the meantime, there are two
new fantastic stories for your enjoyment. Admittedly,
two does not seem like many, but the contest took priority
and thus the number of stories in this issue was decreased
as a result. This also brings to light the increasing
number of regular submissions we are receiving. While
we like to help writers with suggestions and/or
revisions--even if we don't publish the story--this adds to
wait times and delays. The more complete and polished
your story is, the more likely it will be selected for
publication because editing is kept to a minimum during
close deadlines.
So until September, enjoy the
stories. Read them and re-read them. They are
displays of literary prowess, featuring honest characters
and moving words. I think you'll agree that they are truly
honest fiction.
Sincerely,
Matthew Limpede, Editor
